Why Test Indoor Air Quality?

Indoor air can contain significantly higher concentrations of pollutants than outdoor air. Poor indoor air quality has been linked to respiratory issues, allergies, headaches, and long-term health problems.

Air quality testing identifies what's in the air you breathe every day, giving you the information needed to take corrective action.

What We Test For

  • Mold spores — airborne mold particles that can cause respiratory irritation and allergic reactions
  • Allergens — common indoor allergens including dust mites, pet dander, and pollen
  • Volatile compounds — chemical pollutants from building materials, cleaning products, and furnishings
  • Particulate matter — fine particles that can penetrate deep into the lungs

When Should You Test?

Persistent allergy or respiratory symptoms
Visible mold or musty odors
After water damage or flooding
Before or after renovation projects
Buying or selling a home
Concerned about overall indoor health

Why Indoor Air Quality Testing Matters at Closing

Most home inspections do not include air quality testing — yet indoor air pollutants are among the most common causes of health problems in residential properties. Noble Property Inspections uses certified laboratory analysis to screen for allergens, mold spores, VOCs, and particulates that are invisible to the naked eye.

  • Lab-certified testing using AIHA-accredited laboratory partners
  • Screens for the full spectrum of indoor air pollutants — not just mold
  • Results interpreted against EPA and OSHA indoor air quality guidelines
  • Same-day sample collection — lab results within 3-5 business days
  • Can be combined with mold inspection for a complete environmental assessment

Indoor air quality issues are among the most common problems buyers discover after moving in. An air quality test before closing gives you documented evidence of any issues and negotiating leverage for remediation.

Indoor air quality testing is available as a standalone service or as an add-on to any Noble home inspection or mold inspection. Sample collection takes approximately 2 hours on-site. Laboratory results are typically returned within 3–5 business days. To book air quality testing or ask about bundling it with your home inspection, call (832) 551-1397 or use our online scheduler.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an air quality test check for?
Our air quality testing can screen for mold spores, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), particulate matter, carbon monoxide, radon, allergens, and other indoor contaminants depending on the test package selected.
How are air samples collected?
Air samples are collected using calibrated pumps that draw air through cassettes or tubes. Samples are sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis. Results are typically returned within 3–5 business days.
When should I get an air quality test?
Consider air quality testing if you notice musty odors, have allergy or respiratory symptoms that improve when you leave the home, are purchasing an older home, or if a prior inspection found moisture or mold concerns.
Is air quality testing the same as mold testing?
Mold testing is one type of air quality test. A full air quality assessment can include mold spore counts, VOCs, particulates, and other contaminants. If you suspect only mold, a dedicated mold inspection may be more appropriate.
Do you test for radon separately?
Yes. Radon testing is a separate service. We offer both short-term (48-hour) and long-term radon tests using EPA-approved devices and accredited lab analysis.
